Even if you’re using another Antivirus solution, Microsoft Defender or Security Essentials may still be active on the computer. Search for “Defender” or “Essentials”, open the program, and disable scanning. If one of these is your primary Antivirus Solution, before you re-enable the program, use Settings (or Tools and Options) and select “Excluded files and locations.” Click Add to navigate to and select each installed file. You can then re-enable scanning.
